Job Description:

As a Port Controller you take on the responsibility for inputting port requirements into the wider integrated plan and executing port related activities.  Execute standardised and aligned planning processes and tactical optimisation to deliver maximum value.  Secure and balance all assets, functions and obligations across the value chain to maximize margins, achieve higher asset utilisation with appropriate capacity, lower operating costs based on greater value chain visibility, transparency and utilisation. 

You will be required to coordinate all day to day operations related to the management of the Anglo American Thermal Coal South Africa company activities related to the port, identify risks and opportunities and ensure all in line with the Richards Bay Coal Terminal rules and regulations.

Part of your responsibilities will be to collect and analyse in-port intelligence, provide advisory services to the marketing and trading teams through the Integrated Planning process on market intelligence and identified market trends.

This role is in the Marketing department at a Band 6 level and reports into the Head of ISOP & Domestic Market.

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12. 
  • A tertiary qualification relevant to the role will be advantageous
Additional information:
  • Extensive experience in logistics in Port Operations in dry bulk essential
  • In-depth knowledge in dry bulk logistics and stockpile management with experience in rail, freight and shipping logistics, preferably in coal industry
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of the Maritime regulations
  • Understanding of Supply Codes of Practices, policies and procedures and the Mining and Metallurgy Value Chain
  • Hold a valid South African Driver’s license.
