Job Description
The Department invites suitably qualified and interested Professional Nurses to express interest in pursuing Postgraduate Diploma training in Nursing Specialties.
Successful candidates will be considered for placement in accredited training institutions for the identified specialty areas, subject to service needs and available training opportunities.
Applicants who are able to secure admission at higher institution of learning for any of these courses will have an added advantage.
Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery (05), Perioperative Nursing (06), Adult Critical Care Nursing (07), Emergency Care Nursing (07).
Ophthalmic Nursing (04). Orthopaedic Nursing (04). Nephrology Nursing (06). Oncology Nursing (04). Child Nursing (02). Mental Health Nursing (03). Child Critical Care Nursing (02).
A four (4) year Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a 4-year Diploma in terms of Regulation R.425, or a Diploma in General Nursing plus Midwifery. Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife.
A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a registered Nurse/Midwife. A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the intended area of specialization will serve as an added advantage.
Responsibilities
Candidates must be willing to be placed at various health facilities for clinical exposure relevant to their field of study, including but not limited to Tertiary Hospitals, Regional Hospitals and Specialised Hospitals. Placement at clinical training sites will be determined by the Department in line with service delivery needs and training requirements.
Candidates will be required to apply independently to accredited universities offering the relevant Postgraduate Diploma programmes.
Admission into a university programme remains the responsibility of the candidate. The Department will not be responsible for university application processes, admission outcomes, or placement confirmation. The Department will not take responsibility for any logistical arrangements, including but not limited to Tuition or registration fees, Accommodation, Travel and subsistence costs and any other personal or study-related expenses.
Appointment to the programme does not constitute permanent appointment to a specific post, but is subject to training agreements, service needs, and departmental deployment requirements upon completion
